Re: Cutover to PTC on the NS Chicago Line
A lot of the Chicago Line installs were done by contractors if I remember correctly (seems like many, many years ago now). I wonder if they were setting these foundations on top of fill material without properly tamping it to begin with. The bungalow at CP-352 comes to mind as one where a huge amoun...

Re: And, It's Back
FYI, today's afternoon/evening outage was due to me moving the server from Bryan to my new home. Same hardware for the moment, still working on getting the new server setup and going. But with it sitting on my desk for the time being, and me being in the same home with it daily I should hopefully ke...

Re: What railroad?
I'm also guessing that you're talking about the ND&W, The Napoleon, Defiance & Western, owned by Pioneer Railcorp. They bought the line a couple years ago I believe and have been putting some money into pulling the rails out of the swamp and trying to run trains over it. http://www.pioneer-railcorp....

Re: Narrow Gauge Historical Marker
That is an amazing amount of work to be done without the sophisticated track work machines we have today in the time frame it was completed in.

Re: Great Train Expo......Breakfast.......
Just an update, breakfast will be at 9am at the IHOP on the corner of Washington Center and Lima Rd, just north of the I-69 Lima Rd exit. If you think you might be able to make it, just post a reply either here or the FWARailfan Facebook group so we can get a rough tally. For anyone that hasn't been...

Re: Feasability study planned for river and rail attraction
I was told by the owner of Applied Metals that He owns half of the ROW and Schenkels purchased the other half, Gary need the ROW as an entrance off Wells to enter the back side of His Facility On a side note I got the mile post from the ROW at St Mary's and it's MP 2, 2 miles from what was my quest...

Agreed, nice job on the fence Bob. From the looks of the barn you need a good fence to keep people away from it to help avoid a lawsuit when that thing caves in.

Re: Special train tomorrow through Noble and Dekalb counties
I bet with the weight of all those heavy weight cars and the requirements to keep all the AC/Heat going in that many cars, it's probably powered just about right.JW wrote:I would like to know the railroad price tag on this trip. Sure is overkill on power. Where all they going before returning home?

Re: Updated?
Yea, i was doing some routine maintenance on the server last night which resulted in it being down all day. Go figure a simple operating system update would cause it to crash and take 3 hours to get it back online again. Which topic do you not have permissions for? I decided to move my previous thre...

Re: Updates to the website
Sorry for the outage over the last 24 hours or so guys. Last night I logged into the server to perform some routine maintenance including a Linux system update. I left the update running when I went to bed and woke up this morning to a server that I couldn't even log into, much less running a websit...

NKP 765 - Listen for the Whistle documentary
The family and I went down to New Haven on Sunday to check out the Ft Wayne Railroad Historical Society's open house and I picked up a copy of their documentary Listen for the Whistle. When we got home I was tired and didn't feel like mowing the lawn so I watched the movie instead, with intentions o...

Re: 765 Detroit Runs
I did get one quick grab shot of it downtown last weekend, everything else I took was video. I'm going to try to get some video clips put together and uploaded soon. It sure was neat to follow this thing all around NE Indiana last weekend. My wife and boys had a great time too.

Looks like a colorful day Bob. Man how I wish I got to see more C&NW units, they are just cool looking for some reason.

Updates to the website
I thought I'd take a minute to let everyone know of a few changes that have been happening around here lately. As some of you may, or maybe haven't noticed, I recently decided to stop paying a monthly fee to have this website hosted on a commercial server and have decided instead to have it hosted o...
