Thus, we didn't change the flyers in case things turned worse. There is nothing we could enforce at this time....

Re: Estry Tower

Wayne, I don't know if there was a tower for West Richey. I'll have to see what he says. We're model railroading buddies, so let me ask.

The CFE has been given a $4.5 million grant. They will replace 10.8 miles of jointed rail with welded rail. Install new ballast and ties. Replace 7 turnouts and rehabilitate another. Rebuild yard tracks in Lima, OH and Fort Wayne, IN. The info was in an article from Trains magazine or newswire under...

Re: Transpoint Intermodal Yard project

BNSF now has trains originating/ending at North Baltimore for awhile now and added some. PSR I'm sure had an effect also. There was an article about this in an Indiana filing and it actually mentioned Canadian National for it.

Re: W&LE on CF&E

The WLE still comes to Lima once a week with scrap gons. Sometimes 1 gon up to as many as 17 so far. CSX shot the WLE down going west of Lima pretty early on. Wasn't going to allow a through WLE train on the CFE.

Re: Windmills on CF&&E

When the CFE receives windmill blade trains they are unloaded at the Van Wert Terminal. It is on Harrison Center Road east of Van Wert. Some of the trains have come to Crestline with BNSF power off of CSX.

Re: Estry Tower

It actually stands short for East Richey. As you might know, there is Richey Road west of Van Wert. I believe out that way was West Richey. Shortened it to Estry. A fellow friend in the VW County Historical Society's railroad group has told me about this.

Ken, I've heard the same thing you're talking about. I myself have never asked anybody that would know. I do know a county commissioner maybe I should ask this question. Who knows what he'll say. :lol:

Re: Van Wert CF&E

The Van Wert County Port Authority owns most if not all of the old CN track. The RR may own some. Always seems to be some question on who owns what. The LIVW is the Lima/Van Wert turn the CF&E runs. Just like the LIFW is the Lima/Fort Wayne turn CF&E runs.

Re: Van Wert CF&E

Craig, yes the supersite is just northeast of Van Wert. It's just farmland right now of course. The new supersite trackage crosses US 127 goes all way behind Walmart and ends for now at Marsh road. Has yellow track bumper right up to Marsh road on the west side. I'm not sure of the milepost marker. ...

Re: Van Wert CF&E

Craig, the Pennsy signals still work. I believe when a train will be coming you will see the mainline signals lit. I think also the dwarfs still work at least they did when they replaced the diamond. There is a transload just north of the Scott Equity elevator. It's north of Bonnewitz Ave. They can ...
