I noticed along Camden st next to the storage units there are two concrete footers plus what looks like a marker of some kind. was this related to the GR&I?

When was it closed? Michigan had quite a few concrete plants back years ago.. The big one at Cement City and this one.

FW&J north of Jonesville question

I noticed looking at google at the SW end of Hastings Lake there is what looks like an open area that looked to be at one time served by rail. Anyone know what this was? There is also what looks like the remains of a roundhouse of some kind..

This might be related. This morning I saw a good sized intermodal train eastbound on the CF&E rails, TOFC, COFC, and doublestacks on wells. 3 NS locomotives pulling it, and a lot of the TOFC trailers were UPS and Fed Ex ground. I don't recall any such train regularly going through the fort before. ...

I saw it the same day between Pierceton and Larwill along US 30.. It was running at a good clip.. Took me by complete surprise too.. :D

I noticed several sets of tracks in the street in Durbin st in Warsaw on Google. What did they serve and when were they last used? I assume Conrail was the last user..

Last time i was in Warren they have several hoppers at the elevator.. Tracks to Van Buren are rusty and overgrown..

The one they cut off is the old mainline.. Hasnt seen a train since 1976.

Too bad they have to ship everything out by truck.... They still have the sidings but no way to go by rail.

Looking at Google i noticed some rather unique looking buildings behind the large factory that sits on the old EL row. They are both long and have black roofs but what i found cool was there is a transfer table between the buildings and what appears to be a crane siting on an old spur track.. Did th...

The LSMS had a line that came up from Goshen and went to Battle Creek but that was gone in the early 1930s north of Sturgis and early 1960s between Sturgis and Goshen.. You can still see the grade north of Sturgis if you know were to look.
