As far as i know the Madison RR doesnt go beyond the industrial park at all anymore.. I dont think there is anything south of there that warrants rail service anymore. The power plant is down by the river, but it gets coal in by barge and has for years.

Id take the EL grey, maroon, and yellow over the Erie plain black and yellow anyday!

Does anyone know the number of the tank car train on CSX? I saw it today eastbound. What does this train haul?

Ive always wondered why with the traffic Tillman road gets from people coming in off of 469 why the RxR crossing on Tillman is only protected by cross bucks. There is another crossing to the south of 469 that has modern flashers.

The CL was removed west of Frankfort around 1990/91 or so.. I think this part of the lines was at one time, before NS removed it, going to be a shortline.. Its too bad its gone now but it just didnt have much online buisness between Frankfort and the Ind.Ill border. Most of the towns were too dinky ...

Yes yes i have witnessed these trains first hand. The usually have JD tractors and pickers, but i have noticed a few flats with Ford New Hollands and case IH and some Deuts Allis... Pretty cool to see these trains going through town!!

The FW&J never was a really profitable line IMHO. The line had practically no online buisness between Jackson and Fort wayne and the only real online busines was in Auburn.

If some of you get the chance, do some railfanning on the south end of the NCD between Richmond and Cinci.. The old PRR portion of then NCD is very intersting with all the grades and curves.. Makes for a neat rail line to photograph!!!
Also US 127 follows it most of the way from Eaton to Hamilton..
