Historic photo of Baker Street being built

I found this photo in some new Lines West photos released by the University of Pittsburgh: http://images.library.pitt.edu/cgi-bin/i/image/image-idx?rgn1=hpicasc_ci;med=1;q1=AIS.2012.03;size=20;c=hpicasc;back=back1376432559;subview=detail;resnum=178;view=entry;lastview=thumbnail;cc=hpicasc;entryid=x-...

Re: Conrail Historical Society's 4th annual Marion, OH Rail-

Just to update everyone, the food issue has been settled. Apparently the society's grill is "bad ordered"(aka its broken) which is why they aren't bringing it this year. So instead they are going to provide fried chicken, potato salad, and such for lunch Saturday.

Re: Conrail Historical Society's 4th annual Marion, OH Rail-

Just a reminder that this event is two days away! Also, I apologize but in a late breaking development, the society is NOT bringing its grill this year to the event. Instead they are going to do something, yet to be determined, for lunch and dinner will be on your own. Thankfully the Shovel restaura...

Re: Sign on the last Amtrak Broadway Limited in FW?

I used to have a website bookmarked, it may have been by coaster engineer, but it showed pictures of the depots in Ft. Wayne and included a larger image of the shot in question and you could read exactly what the sign said on it. I just checked my bookmark and it says page cannot be found.

Conrail Historical Society's 4th annual Marion, OH Rail-BQ

I'm sorry for the short notice, but in a week and a half it will be time for the Conrail Historical Society's 4th annual Marion, OH Rail-BQ on Saturday July 27th at the Marion Union Station. This event is FREE to attend and you do not have to be a member of the society. The depot, tower, and model r...

Re: Why not model the Penn Central?

Penn Central is one of my interests, to the point I created my own Penn Central "system" using a lot of the old lines in IN, OH, MI, and IL(but the anchor for all of them is the Fort Wayne mainline). Gary might be astonished at this fact, but I actually own more PC painted HO scale locos than I do C...

Re: A Pennsy T1 at speed

The late JCM told me this story once and I have repeated it a few times to others but until today I had no idea Mike Crosby's dad John was one of the crewman on that run. Thanks for reposting this, I enjoyed it!

Thanks Maurice! BTW, I met a fellow rail you know, Bill Byers, at the Railroad Celebration event in Fort Wayne a couple months ago. He still remembers you and says to tell you hello.

My friend walked over to the old closed Estella Ave crossing at 4 mile and got a shot of it that day.

Love the picture of 611 coming out of the Maumee River Bridge at North River Road crossing. Seen a lot of trains go through that bridge during my years of growing up and living in New Haven.

Re: Wabash central expanding?

Crown has a small facility over here in the Dayton area, located near or in Vandalia, OH. You can see it as you drive south on I-75 before reaching the junction with I-70. All of the lift trucks we use at Meijer are all made by Crown.

Those cars have been there since at least the fall of 2011, not sure why though.

Just a reminder that this show is coming up this weekend, most of the hurricane remnants should be gone by then so the weather should be much nicer :D Hope to see some of you there!
