Re: Snake Track etc

I too have seen several oil trains on the Water Level Route using DPU. I haven't seen any rhyme or reason to which trains receive DPU. I have seen photos of BNSF units in DPU mode as well, so you never know what might be on the rear of the train. As of the past week or so, NS has been running some o...

Re: Baldwin @ Waterloo

This afternoon most of the unit was gone except for the frame...glad I got shots of it when it was still around!

Re: Help with list of lake division locals

Here's one most people don't know about; LF44, which is a night shift local crew that works at Triple Crown in Ft. Wayne. Works Tu-Sa; normally reports for duty at Triple Crown but sometimes brings power from the pit.

Nice list; thanks for the hard work!

Re: WB NS Detours on CF&E

That would've been 21Z, and it carries Triple Crown TOFC trailers (for that matter, you could also see them on several other Chicago line intermodals). They run between Chicago and East Coast, and Chicago and Atlanta (via 215/216/282). About 225 in service in this lane, some are old road railers, so...

Re: New CSX/MAW Diamond

Yep you're right, Walkerton it is, not Wellsboro. That would be a sight, a 10,000 ft CN train crawling over a diamond like that in Wellsboro!

Re: New CSX/MAW Diamond

There's one like that out in Wellsboro on the CSX main; it's basicially silent, no gap in the rails to make all the noise, a definite improvement for CSX; I wonder if track speed will increase?

Re: 10-5*****10-6

I was out in Lafayette on 10/6, and saw all the track equipment as I passed by Rockfield and I got that "sick" feeling in my stomach. Turned out to be a pretty good day over there, but they did hold some westbounds that I counted on seeing in the afternoon, such is life!

Re: 10/12/2011

I can't help but be a huge INER fan. Such a class act; VERY railfan friendly, attractive paint scheme, good traffic mix which lends to improvement projects like the track resurfacing and the new shop....way to go INER!

Re: Fort Wayne N Scale Club when are they open

I apologize I just now saw this email, I wasn't at the Van Wert show, but the N scale group is a great bunch of folks who love model railroading. Sadly I'm not as active as I'd like to be, but hopefully one of these days I can get more involved!

Re: More Chicago Line traffic

No NS is not short-hauling themselves. This isn't NS business to begin with. CP was actually short-changing themselves by running the business on CSX. They determined that they could keep the routing well in to New York state before handing it off, instead of giving it up in Chicago. Chris Ft. Wayne

Re: NS 145&146 Pass In The Night

Too bad they weren't passing in the daylight hours....oh well. I tell you what, the Fostoria District is BUSY in the middle of the night. One of these days I'm going to pull an all-nighter in Fostoria to watch the NS parade (and some CSX too)!

Re: Triple Crown

Your best bet is to catch 255 and 267 in the afternoon, both should be through between 12:00 and 5:00pm. On Friday's and Saturday's 256 runs through in the late morning/early afternoon heading east. 260 runs eastbound in the evening most other days. 253 on runs from Detroit to Ft. Wayne, doesn't go ...

Re: New Amtrak Station for Bryan, OH

It's long overdue; I've long felt the Bryan station to be WAY too close to the tracks. Though it will be sad to see the old one go; I have many, many fond memories, tracing to my earliest childhood years, of hanging out in that station. More recently in college, I spent several late nights hanging o...

They normally meet on Wednesday nights. Come down to Science Central this weekend (the weekend after Thanksgiving) for the Festival of Trains and check them out.

Re: Waterloo Amshack Station

Interesting.

I'm curious to see how it will look. If the platform is going to be right in front of the station, they're going to have to do some serious work to add some ground up there, as you can see by the photo the ROW drops off sharply at track's edge.
