JK TOWER WAS WHERE THE PC/CR KANKAKEE LINE CUT OFF TOWARD STREATOR. CAN'T REMEMBER WHAT ELSE WENT ON THERE. I WAS THERE TWICE WHEN THERE WAS OVER A FOOT OF SNOW AND BOTH TIMES IT WAS DARK. I RODE THE HEAD END TO STREATOR AND THE CABOOSE BACK. THOSE WERE THE GOOD OLD DAYS.

I DON'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THE HISTORY OF THE TOWN OR TOWER. I WROTE QUITE A FEW TRAIN ORDERS AND DISPATCHED A LOT MORE TO THE TOWER. ALL OF THEM WERE SPELLED "ESTRY" .

BELIEVE IT OR NOT: THERE WAS ROOM IN THAT CAR FOR HIM AND HIM ONLY. IT WAS FULL FRONT AND BACK. HE SAID " I LIKE TO BE PREPARED" AND I GUESS HE WAS. THIS WAS BEFORE HE WORKED FOR THE RAILROAD. HE DID LIKE TO TALK !!!

NEAT OLD ENGINE, THE WIFE AND I GOT RUN IT A FEW YEARS AGO. (WELL, QUITE A FEW YEARS AGO) GOT TO RIDE FORT WAYNE TO CHICAGO AND BACK DURING PC YEARS. DISPATCHERS COULD RIDE ANYTIME. AHH!!! THE GOOD OLD YEARS.

YES HE WAS THE ONE THAT BUMPED ME OUT FOR THE LAST TIME. COULD HAVE GONE TO LANSING, ILL. (CHICAGO) BUT I TOOK MY GUARANTEED WAGE AND WENT HOME. OF COURSE THE LANSING JOBS WENT TO DETROIT A YEAR LATER AND I DIDN'T LIKE THAT IDEA ANY BETTER. KIND OF LIKED LIVING AT HOME.

WAYNE, THE EASTBOUND NS APPROACH LITE ON THE BOARD DID NOT WORK. WE HAD TO WATCH FOR A HEADLIGHT ON THE CURVE NEAR THE GE PLANT. I ASKED THE SIGNAL MAINTAINER IF HE COULD FIX IT. WHEN I HIRED OUT IN 1952, THE ERIE WAS ALL DOUBLE TRACK. I WASN'T THERE VERY LONG SO I DON'T KNOW WHEN THE DOWNGRADE STARTED.
