Re: Very Long Freight

Longest one so far for me was a 31M just under 14,000. After about 45 minutes I heard Toledo west ask if I was "on the way back up" I told the head end I was almost to the 1/2 point... going to the rear! At that point I had to get a block so I could walk the tracks as the oneside had become "hazardo...

Re: Very Long Freight

LOL If I'd have to walk it, as I head out the door you may as well as order the recrew. Besides that this is just stupid as $h!?. No yard will want to "take" the train so the dispatcher will have to hold you out, no point telling you to avoid tying up crossings. Even then one the yard is "forced" to...

Re: Double Fatality

Claims will of downloaded the railview tape for review. Often anymore as these suits are filed once the lawyer for the party that files the "claim" gets to see the tape, the suit gets dropped. Tragic as it is, the train didn't run the stop sign the father and his son did. Also there's nothing wrong ...

That battery place in Holland hasn't been served in atleast 5 years.

Re: Fort Wayne Train Number Index - Greg

358/359 39E 19A, off hand, 18A used to be pretty set in stone too but now often there are days it don't run either. I don't know off hand about the Cleveland-Elkhart pool i heard something about 17N/15N being combined too. You can see it out here on the Chicago line too used to be that going between...

Re: Fort Wayne Train Number Index - Greg

Oh train counts are down. That's why pool spots are being cut and people being laid off. And actually bigger trains are worse, what they used to call two trains for now are combined into one that's 2 people not working right there each time. The Tol-Peru pool has had 1/2 it's trains annulled. There'...

Re: Fort Wayne Train Number Index - Greg

Not much better, it's about 8X10 with a small (think 2nd grade desk) a single bed and a coat hook. Bathroom and shower is a shared one down the hall. Walls may as well be sheets for as good as they insulate. Not alot around either to walk to. After about the 36th hour its gets even older faster.

Re: Fort Wayne Train Number Index - Greg

I believe 242 is a Chicago to Bethlehem Triple Crown. I think it began running about a year ago. For a long time, it ran east on the Chicago Line and was one of the few Triple Crowns that didn't go into Fort Wayne. It sounds like its route has been changing around some lately. 242 Chicago-Rutherfor...

I went through Ft Wayne Sat am on the 21T and what was strange we were talking about how just so many cars blow the gates in that town, it was like at about every crossing someone went around the gates.

16K was combined into 34N, no dates for 16K and 171 stopped no longer showing on the computer at work. Seems like each day there's less running

Re: Fort Wayne Train Number Index - Greg

This would be a never ending battle now especially with trains being combined 24V/20R or just plain annulled. I went east through Ft Wayne lastnight on a 29G going to Sterling yard in Detroit. The paperwork on board showed it as having a Chicago-Elkhart-Toledo routing instead of how it actually went...
