Re: CSX rebuilds

Those units are assigned to Q310/Q311, which run Columbus to Indy I believe, for testing and evaluation. I don't know about the rest of you guys, but those things are BUTT ugly with that genset cab on it!

Re: Dunkirk, Hartford City segment

Thanks for the photo Jett, since that train's eastbound it should be LOCO(Logansport to Columbus), which featured TPW run through power on a semi regular basis back then. Its counterpart was COLO(Columbus to Logansport). My friend Kevin Nelson caught one these trains one time with the TPW's GP35(num...

Re: Penn Central through Ft Wayne/Lima, Ohio

Well, according to the Station record of movements from Mike Tower dated July 24, 1973, the following TV trains ran on PC thru Ft. Wayne:
TV1
TV10S
TV20
TV2/TV12
TV10

There could have been more, but that's all that was on the first sheet I could find in my collection.

Re: December Out and About

Thanks for the history lesson Mike, that just saved me a ton of trouble in researching the history of the Old Road line from White Pigeon to Elkhart in regards to CR's Kalamazoo Branch.

Re: December Out and About

That's funny that NS is now redoing its "NS" caboose fleet with no logos and just the reporting mark and number now. Doesn't stand out as much as the old one did.

FWRHS getting an NS SD9?

It was recently reported on one of my yahoogroups that the Ft. Wayne Railroad Historical Society had purchased a NS SD9(number unknown), which is ex NKP. Can anyone from FWRHS confirm or deny this story and if its true, what is the group's plan for this engine? I will definitely make another trip to...

Re: Caboose Hop

That 24039 looks amazing! Its Conrail Blue paint still looks as good as the day they repainted it :D On a related note, this caboose's brother, CR 24040, is stationed at Motor Yard near Hudson, OH and is in red paint with NS logos and the word's Cleveland District, Dearborn Division on both sides. R...

Re: Kato Uni-track

I was manning the CRHS booth at the Marion, OH show today and one of the Columbus, OH based N-scale club was there with their layout and when I looked at it, I seen that the track was uni-track that had been weathered and ballasted and looked really nice to me. I'm not an N-scaler, I'm just saying i...

They do exist, they are on Flickr by a guy named "rail Ohio" (aka Brian Schmidt). He took a bunch of photos of the N scale layout there.

I'll be there too Gary :D , manning the Conrail Historical Society tables this weekend, where I will hopefully have our brand new 2011 calendars available(they are in transit), along with all the other usual Conrail merchandise we normally carry(including model trains in HO and N scale).
