Re: Derailment

Looks like there might be some detours through the Fort tomorrow if it takes a while to clean this mess up! Amtrak 30 is being held at South Bend right now due to this derailment.

Re: Caboose Hop

I can't remember the number, but the NW 518578 was taken here in New Haven, IN and the DODX caboose shot was also at East Wayne yard in New Haven.

Re: Caboose Hop

#4 with the CR transfer caboose should be Three Rivers, MI.

The DWP caboose is on the Adrian and Blissfield RR(most likely Blissfield).

BTW, I love telling people NS has a caboose 555555

Re: NYC Elkhart Museum Mohawk 3001

This rumor has been making the rounds since the end of September because I was asked about it back then during the CRHS convention in Cleveland. Person who asked me said Jim Six posted it at the time, but like a few others have said, I'll believe it when I see it(even though it would be cool as hell...

I like your use of Matchbox and Hot Wheels cars on your layout, I probably had one of all those trucks as a kid :)

Re: RUNNION INTERLOCKING

Keep these memories about Junction coming guys, I'm enjoying everyone of them so far :) Now, a new question for you guys, when did the tower at Junction close and what year was it torn down? I'm guessing after 1985 for both but I'm not really sure. :?:

Re: WP jumction?

It was known as WP during the days when the PRR referred to its towers by their telegraph code. Then they changed the name to Wabash in the early 1900's when they were converting their towers to named locations. Penn Central changed it in the 70's to Mike. I'm not really sure why they changed it hon...

Re: Conrail/NS, Downtown, 1999

I think it also might have had something to do with Ft. Wayne wanting the crossings on Jefferson closed as well, maybe that was a condition on Ft. Wayne signing off against opposing the merger, I don't really know for sure.

Re: Visited UPL last weekend (Universal Parking Lot)

That is correct DL, from the IlliniRail yahoogroup last summer I learned about them doing some MW work on the Troy Grove Sub(they replaced the diamond at Earlville, IL that allows their train to get across the BNSF Mendota Sub a lot faster than it does now).

Maybe they're putting in a new track to park trains on so they don't block the Chicago main b/w Four Mile and NE

Awesome, thanks Jett, it was nice meeting you too as I enjoy being able to put a face with a name. I think this is the first time I've EVER seen a picture of that tower from ANY era!
