NW caboose in Bluffton today

A Norfolk Southern work train is parked for the night on Wabash Centrals trackage tonight with a Norfolk and Western caboose, The work train seems to be loaded with ties, due for unloading there is a cat excavator riding along the railcar also. My question is does Norfolk Southern need permission to...

Landrail in Bluffton?

While on Adams street a few weeks ago I noticed new ties and ballast next to the Wabash central crossing. I passed by yesterday and the ties are spray painted Landrail. I did a quick Google search and found http://www.landrail.com/ Plus the pile of ballast has been used somewhere else. I noticed sou...

Re: Wabash central expanding?

Well the three story building is nearly demolished, the eastern most walls are in tact still, it looks as if it may be a little risky to tear that section down due to a propane refill station next to it.

Re: Wabash central expanding?

I am aware that the Maw was purchased by pioneer, im wouldn't be suprised if CNUR isn't going to get upgrades too. And I now realize the mack truck and front folding gooseneck trailer is former MAW equipment. Im more suprised that the bluffton news banner hasn't picked up on the demolition or revamp...

Wabash central expanding?

Alot of movement next to the yard today in Bluffton, two bulldozers and an excavator are next to the caboose. I noticed a fairly large amount of broken up concrete so they may be rebuilding the siding that the caboose is on? I'm wondering if they are considering refurbishing the old brick building f...

Wabash Central hiring

It appears the purchase of the MAW has kick started a hiring spree for WBCR, 3 positions to fill according to the News Banners classified ads, and a lowboy trailer was parked next to the caboose this evening.

Re: Bluffton Ethanol Plant

It may have to do with the construction going on, about 2 weeks ago most of the rolling stock were moved to Wabash Central while they added what seemed to be drainage pipes to green plains rail yard.

Re: FWRHS/NKP 765 Open House Sept 29/30

I went on Friday with two of my non railroad friends who usually poke fun at my hobby. By the end of the trip not a joke was told that had a train as the punchline. They both seemed fascinated, and a little shocked at the size of the 765.

There was construction at the ethanol plant recently, they moved most of the rolling stock to Wabash Centrals yard for temporary storage.

International paper

The international paper plant next to the airport has a Norfolk Southern loco and caboose on display. It looked to even have wooden steps up to the cab. The loco appears to be a sd60E

Horn question

If a horn is starting to become faulty how long until they repair the horn? Do they wait til it no longer works at all. I ask because I watched a southbound stack train around 9:30 that had a weak horn. My pick up truck horn is atleast as loud or louder.
