Redside, I pulled my log book from Jan 31, 1997 to July 14, 1997 to get those trains. I only listed trains in which I been called for, as there are a few more out there, but for accuracy sake, I only listed ones I had been on. 465 was a sack train. It normally came out of Chicago, to East Wayne, the...

Alot of trains missing off that list, but it does bring back a few memories. 196 197 217 218 227 228 231 248 251 252 258 276 (post mixing center train regular, remember it a few times with BN power off the Chicago side toward Bellevue) 313 (rare back then, went to Kentucky, not same as todays train,...

176 was a WC train. hated by most because it was junk and the WC power wasn't too much better. Train faded after the CN inhailed the WC basically. If I recall, it did run the branch for a short time too.

Greg,
Often the New Castle dist. dispatcher will id themselves that way on the Frankfort District.
Over the years almost every dispatcher does their own deal in IDing themselves over the radio. Like was said, alot of times they will use the town of their origin in the id.

Due to MofW on the branch, the Chief made the call when they were just south of Muncie. Mention was made of another train but heard nothing more other then 144 heading north.

The use to say "Road Worker In Charge", but I have heard several variations in it. There is a slang, which I can't say it here.

The old LE&W line is turned at the State line. RJCorman is east, NS is west. RJCorman has trackage rights to reach Portland.

Indiana use to include railroads on their state maps. This was lost back in the mid 90's I believe. To bad too, because these were very accurate (only a few errors)

I dont think CSX has a say in it, as the town of North Judson bought the line from CSX, not leased. Secondly, NS offers that second option on moving traffic, having access to Fort Wayne to turn traffic south sooner then CSX so to speak. Isn't there a reason for not doing it with the CFWE? Doesn't th...

NS bought it west of Fort Wayne.
It was actually given to CSX to balance the trackage across northern Indiana/Ohio and also give CSX another route if trouble would come. CSX said they would add traffic, but never really did.
There is a small amount of business, will leave that for the west guys.

I had to chuckle when I watched the Neff video on the NCD. Its mostly shot around 97-99'ish. There are alot of shots from Campbellstown to around Muncie. Shows a few of the nice sized 444/443 of that time period.

They use to be regular so to speak. Not to much now. I guess like the potash trains.

Re: upcoming work

Fri 02/24/2006....Bluffton Engine 5001 was in the siding (transfer track) in Bluffton with a caboose and 12 tie gondolas with a excavator crawling along the tops of the ties to toss them out. If I were a gambler, I'd say there was a tie replacement gang scheduled this way soon. Don't gamble. An IMC...
