Re: Where Diz 4/26

Thanks to Howard's hint, I found the place. It's hard to tell that a track ever served the building now.

I think the shop building, a very new shop building, would be located just off to the back and slightly left by a few hundred feet.

Is it the factory, I think it's Harsco, just east of Garrett? Approximately here: http://g.co/maps/fhkr3

Re: Articulated Train Set

Victor Baird (wabash2800) mentioned in this TO post, http://www.trainorders.com/discussion/read.php?11,1263077, that the Burlington Zephyr tour made it to Ft Wayne in 1934. It came to Waterloo from Chicago, down the NYC, then was displayed at the PRR Baker Street station, then back to Chicago via th...

Re: Ft Wayne GR&I-NKP Diamond

The first locomotive looks like F7 #9828, built 1951. The second appears to be GP7 #8556 (or so), which was built in 1953. I doubt that the GR&I would have seen brand new locomotives, so this is probably at least the mid-1950s or later. Beyond that, I don't see anything in the photo that could help ...

Re: Website Chat Page

Yes, what has changed? I'm intrigued as to what you want to see. I'll see what I can do to help things. Oh, and as for the chat page, I did try it for a short time on the INDRR site many years ago. It was a bust since people wanted to read things on their own time, not sort through a bunch of chat m...

Re: Old Interurban pole/ line?

There is one... This is on County Road 35 in Dekalb county between US 6 & 427 and there are about 5 of these on this stretch. Ah...so the question is whether this is an old interurban pole/line? The answer is no. A quick summary of the route: The track from Auburn ran up 427, then up Cedar Street, ...

Re: Old Interurban pole/ line?

To me, given the close arrangement of the insulators, I think that was an old telephone arm on the pole, not an interurban trolley pole. But, perhaps there might be a case of co-location, I wouldn't rule it out completely.

So...was this in Van Wert, Convoy, Monroeville, or New Haven?

Yes! It is in Power Park, at the northwest corner of Spy Run and Elizabeth.

Here are more photos of the park. There are (or were when I took the photos) also ISC manholes nearby along Elizabeth.

Mark
:D Not Roanoke.

It is in Fort Wayne, on the northside, on a major street.

Here are some additional photos of manhole covers from the same place.

Re: Where is it? 7-12-10

Nope, not my sidewalk. And you're right, there might be more than one of these left out there, so here's more information to clarify it: The manhole cover is actually embedded in the sidewalk and not covering a manhole now. It is not in its original location. It was placed in its current location wi...

Re: Where is it? 7-12-10

Yes, it's a manhole cover from the Ft. Wayne and Wabash Valley Traction Co.

Nope, it's not Muncie. It's far closer to Ft. Wayne than that.

Re: Whatown 6-17-10

From what satellite pic show the track was on the west side between Munce and Scheidler with a diamond or ski jump half mile south of the curve to the carbarn. A map I was given shows it on the east side of the RR. Most maps I have seen are simply hand applied line drawing that leave out stubs and ...
