Horn question

Post by dbrackin7 » Mon Jul 02, 2012 1:42 pm

If a horn is starting to become faulty how long until they repair the horn? Do they wait til it no longer works at all. I ask because I watched a southbound stack train around 9:30 that had a weak horn. My pick up truck horn is atleast as loud or louder.

It depends upon who notices. If the crew doesn't write up a report for the maintenence department, it could go for weeks like that, or until the unit is shopped. A running inspection by the hostler at the fuel pad may or may not notice it, either.
