NS 174

Post by Rob » Wed May 04, 2011 6:17 pm

The train that can not seem to settle on a route has seemed to find yet another one, Fostoria webcam has it going by at 7:15pm, heading west, last night it was 11pm, and i did not catch it in area, but when I woke up, 175 was on audio feed for fostoria. They must be using Claypool connection when I am sleeping :)

Didn't this train have pick-ups at Muncie and Marion when it went that way?

No pick ups for the 174 or 175 for that matter. Yeah, she's moved again. 174/175 now take the connector at Claypool going to and from Elkhart. Actually the 174 has been continuing on to Chicago lately. Guess they're scared to run em on the New Castle District to Muncie and the Branch all the way to Elk on account they might end up in the new "Noell parking lot" :D

I have heard 174 twice around Fort Wayne area.
Last night they came West on the Fostoria and changed
crews at Estella Ave.Then to Mike and West onto former
NKP at Hill.

Does this train originate at Columbus, Ohio,or where?

Radio reception was extraordinary last night.
I heard NS 240, 306, 146,all the way to East Continental from
my home close to Thurman.

Thanks

Mark

174/175 run Macon-Elkhart-Macon. They were going up the Dayton District to Columbus from Cincinnati, then to Bellevue and Elkhart. Now they're routing through Portsmouth off the Pocahontas Division. My guess is their routing will switch back once the CSX trackwork in/around Cincinnati is finished.
