How are the CP trains making out on NS?

I'd imagine it gets pretty crowded on TWL between Chicago and Butler. Just how much time does CP spend getting their trains over the road through there and how long will this continue?

As far as I know this is a permenent deal, otherwise NS wouldn't have built the infrastructure up to handle it. Although from what I read/heard CP paid for most if not all of it. I know that the CP crews are based out of Elkhart and I believe that once the trains get there they get on CP trackage. Perhaps I'm wrong though. I know the line is much busier west of Elkhart, but east of there I don't think it's much of a problem because it's a double track mainline which can handle over 2fold what a single track line can handle.

yes greg you right this is a permanent deal the whole idea of this is bring the CP trains that are running over CSX through grand rapids mi. down to the NS, now this is not going to be fully done for at 2 years , since some of those trains are on contract , this contract is coming up on some of the trains and as they are fullfilled , butler will see more and more traffic. this also the reason for the talk of spending buches of money on the huntington line to upgrade it, as for time being spent going over the NS , there is good days and there are bad days, if everybody get to the juct. at the same time well it's going to be a long night of bad signals.

We are getting over the road well. Only one train is under contract with the CSX (X502). We are running all the other trains. Our biggest hang up is in Chicago on the BRC, and getting into and out of the yards.

You may want to pass that news on. There is a guy on one of the other boards that keeps insisting NS is totally botching this and that CP is having second thoughts.
