New NS trains

Post by Ed Mosser » Fri Jun 01, 2007 10:32 pm

Some of you (Joe and Mike) will have read this on other threads, but for others...

NS seems to have added several new trains to the NKP line to Chicago.

"New trains" of late include:
110 - Chattanooga to Clearing Yard
150 - Chattanooga to Bensenville, Il
186 -
242 - seems off and on. Was "on" tonight heading east to Ft Wayne
308 - havent heard this one in years.

In addition, train 282 was added last fall.

Any info on routings on these?

242 is a Roadrailer train...I believe this had been running on the ex-NYC until recently. Maybe Chicago to Bethlehem, PA?

I've seen the 186 going by the house a few times. So all I can tell you for sure at this point is that it is coming from Muncie.

Heard 117 heading south at Winters Rd. This may be a reroute from the derailment and not a permanent fixture.

282 along with the 110/150/186 heads North on the NCD. It seems to have started about the same time as 25A, which comes off of the Chicago District and heads South on the NCD. For those who haven't seen them: 110/150 are mixed trains that run anywhere from 38 to 160 cars; 282/25A are smaller stack trains.
