The Cut

Post by jett37 » Mon Jan 12, 2015 9:10 pm

A year ago Christmas I received a "Big Hook" for the AMV. It would not pass through the tunnel so I finally replaced the tunnel with a deep cut. Now the crane can go the complete circuit of the lay out. As with all projects there are still some fine tuning to be done or never done. :? jett

Looks good Bob....
I am starting the move to the new room. Hopefully photos coming soon.
We should get together and run some trains.

Ok by me.
Some major track work on the Albany & Mississinewa Valley. Another switch point fell off one of those quality ATLAS turnouts. Another turnout had a loose rail so it was time to tear out the yard tracks and replace the faulty turnouts. Had to bring out the "Big Hook" All is back together and seems to be working very well. I need to visit the hobby shop for a remote power coil on the lead turnout for the yard. Amazing how price goes up. I remember not long ago paying $7.95 for the power coil, now they are double that. Thought I had some extras in the junk box but no such luck this time.

That would be wonderful Chad. Right at the moment everything is working as it should but spare parts are always a good thing to have for stand by. I'm going to be looking at the used market more. I always liked going into the hobby shops and just browse around at all the goodies. I may become a internet junkie. I was just in Phil's hobby shop yesterday (1-23-15) and he raised the prices of the Atlas turn outs $6 from when I was in there ten days ago. Sad, also the increase was on the inventory he already had on the rack. I know I won't be missed as there are hundreds more out and about to take my place.

Thanks, I will pass your sentiments on to her Chad.
Also thanks for the turnouts and track. I have the bad section of spur track replaced but for some reason I still have a little dip that will need some fiddling with shims to fix. Having just replaced a turnout on the yard lead I’m not ready to tear it out again to install the section of uncouple track you sent home with me.

Hopper car on your replacement section of track slow order removed. Now maybe I can ballast that area.
