Hayward Baker is contracted with NS to stabilize approx 1600' of ROW west of Waterloo IN, track 1 is shifting and settling at a rate that is causing concern for the NS people, When the RR was constructed at this paticular area a culvert/bridge was not installed and they have had a problem with water being retain on the north side of the tracks. They are talking about putting in some sort if tile to let the water away from this area as well.

Hayward Baker personal only get to work about 4 hours a day on this because they can empty a trailer load of slag slurry in that time frame and then they have to be refilled via a tractor trailer and they get water from fire hydrants.
This is a 4 man crew 2 with Hayward Baker and 2 with NS. I spotted this on Friday and decided to take a couple pictures and at first I thought that this was something to verify clearences as well but the closer I got the more I relized that it was too tall for clearences.

I always wondered if some of those direct diesel/diesel-hydraulic locomotives UP and SP experimented with back in the early 60s did that.
