Midland,

Do you work for RA(I&O)? I agree about the RA-WLE. The CFE is in a good spot to haul coal or coke for the WLE. Like I said before RA should be investing in the CFE mainline and make it all 49mph. It would link a lot of WLE business with Chicago, more then likely cheaper rates then CSX/NS.

Why would Honda have the CIND hand it off in Cincy, when they could take it to Indy. I could understand the going to Cincy for the NS, but CSX is right just North of Greensburg. I would think with the I&O being one the biggest properties RA owns they would do something to improve business with having a link to Chicago now.

Its something to do with the condition of the track on that end. It has to do with CSX, but I can't remember the exact details right now.

Isn't there a traffic cap specified in the CSX lease agreement? Why pay to upgrade a line if you are prevented from fully using?

I don't work for RA. Nor would I ever consider working for them. Too many problems.

There's no need for RA to spend the money required to get the CF&E or the I&O up to 49 mph. Neither moves anything that urgent to require the investment. Don't forget about the current economic conditions. Money is tight right now. RA's parent, Fortress, is getting killed in their hedge funds.

Why Cincy? Because Honda wants it that way. Currently CSX has no need to bring the line south of Shelbyville back into service and probaly won't quite some time. NS will get the lion's share of the traffic in Cincy anyway. Greensburg is with in a day's drive of 60% of the US automotive market. Most of the rail traffic will be heading to the west coast via NS connections. It's going to be at least next summer or later before the rail traffic from Honda will amount to more than a handful of cars. A second shift for Greensburg isn't projected until mid '09 or later. At least the CIND is getting 3 rebuilt former I&O GP50s in the new RA paint scheme. Don't be surprised to see one on the CF&E eventually.

Does the I&O have any real traffic on it? If your not going to invest in your infrastructure, then whats the point of running a railroad? A shipper wants his product shipped fast for cheap. You said the I&O is 25mph at best in some spots, you can't compete with other rr's if you don't increase speed.

Why would RA lease the CF&E for 20 years with all those stipulations on cars moved, tonnage, commodities hauled, etc? There is no way for you to make money, let alone break even. I work for a Class 1 and all this just doesn't make sense to me.

Are the employees compensated very well? I do believe they are members of the BLET correct?
