NS OCS is coming!

Post by conrailman75 » Mon Jun 27, 2011 5:01 pm

NS's business train(all four F units and 11 passenger cars) is heading east out of Chicago tomorrow morning around 9am(guessing EDT railroad time) and running the ex NKP Chicago and Fostoria Districts to Bellevue, OH. ETA in Ft. Wayne is approximately 2pm. This trip was originally going to run the CF&E, but apparently that got torpedoed(probably by Jacksonville, FL). Good luck to all who try to catch this train!

We saw NS OCS through Leipsic, OH around 3:15 PM. What a sight! Also, went to CSX North Baltimore Intermodal Terminal open house today. Really nice intermodal terminal. Saw CSX Michael Ward and talked to CSX Terminals head. Very polite and talkative. Answered all questions.

And NS CEO Wick Moorman was on the OCS train, so you got to see two Class one CEO's in a single day!

Do you suppose that maybe NS didn't want to run between the Fort and Bucyrus on CFE. I"m just wondering because of the various 25 mph slow orders could they have decided to run the NKP instead. The track is pretty good through Van Wert since they MOW'd it. Plus, in Bellevue they would have security for the OCS and it would be tucked in the yard somewhere being watched by NS. Also, when NS hirailed the CFE maybe there was something they didn't like so they chose to not run the CFE all the way. I wouldn't want to be the hirail workers that said everything was good to go and then something happens. I mean we don't have any derailments on it that I know of . Just wondering. :?

Only CF&E derailment I know of was Bourbon back in the early days, and they passed through there :) .
