R J Corman is putting empty coal hopper cars (PEWX) in storage between Coldwater and Ft. Recovery Ohio. I got them at Coldwater Tuesday 4-24-12 with the first 130. They were suppose to bring more Wednesday or Thursday. jett
1806-1731 on the point-1856 on the rear.

How far west did they shove them? Are they just clear of the fertilizer plant on the side of the hill or did they shove them all the way to Oakland?
Re: R J Corman
So this means the BIG plans that were on everybodys minds a while back has hit a roadblock? NS must have had some extra money so got rid of it on their end.

The 1806-1731 were leading. The 1856 was on the rear. They put the two lead units on the spur track at the fertilizer plant and the rear unit shoved all 130 cars west. Sometimes down to 5 mph. The 1856 was giving it’s all. It started a fire at Wessel Rd. I tried to stomp it out but the wind got the best of it. A near by farmer finally called the fire department.

I would say around Oakland. I did not go west of Wessel Rd. and they were out of my sight.

I was told one time R J Corman owns from Lima to St. Mary’s and lease from there to the state line. That lease is to come due in August. Of course that is just hearsay to me. I never saw it in writing.

Too bad I chose Monday instead of Tuesday to railfan them, but I got some RJC Mon and CFE Tues.
I think if St Marys to the state line was a lease they would not have built their distribution center in Celina.

Re: R J Corman
JW, I've heard that its all centering around the lease date. if that is the case that is a bit off yet. Of course the rumors of NS taking back the operations got good wind in the late 90's when the MR pool went in at Muncie and the Mixing Center was built at Fostoria.JW wrote:So this means the BIG plans that were on everybodys minds a while back has hit a roadblock? All the storage cars were removed last fall. I was able to film 2 of the 4 cuts the pulled out.
Re: R J Corman
I've not heard much of anything about this in months, but again I was told 2013 was the end of the lease. What date, I haven't a clue.Notch 8 wrote:There was talk a year ago about the RJ Corman/NS Line has this gone cold and dead or is there something still in store for this line ?
