Inpection train

Post by willieVW » Mon Nov 03, 2014 3:20 pm

Got into my car to leave work at 3:30 in Van Wert, and caught a NS inspection train rolling west with a NS loco leading, a Can Pac loco following with a NS geometry car in the rear. Is there truth to the rumor NS might run some trains on the old penncy?

Hard to say, there are so many rumors and rumors of mergers out there.
It could be as simple as NS was contracted to perform the track analysis. I don't think G&W has a geometry car of their own, but I could be wrong.

Very strong rumors of NS very soon running coal/bulk trains on CF&E through Van Wert between Fort Wayne and Lima at least. Looks like it is going to happen. NS has the trackage rights and looks like they will use them again. Let's hope!

If NS retains trackage rights how is G&W compensated ? Agree it would be interesting to see coal trains running through VW, Is the dwarf signals still at the diamond in VW ? And have they loaded grain cars in VW ?

Notch, not sure how G&W is compensated. Plus, CSX still owns it or do they get compensated? Hearing bulk trains on CF&E. CF&E still gets plenty of loads from the Scott Equity in Van Wert. Also, they service CSP on the southside of Van Wert. Get loads in from Northeast US. Dwarf signals are still operational in VW.
