INRD in Ft.Wayne???

Post by D.L. » Mon Sep 10, 2007 4:35 pm

:?: Is there an INRD history train coming to Ft. Wayne-yes Ft. Wayne, the one in northern Indiana??? For answers to this and many other questions about Ft.Wayne RR history, be sure to attend the TRRRHC meeting this Sunday downtown @ the Baker St Station@ 2P.M. on the 16th. C.B. can correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that new memberships will be discussed.

Why wait til Sunday everyone. Here's the schedule so everyone will not
miss the train!

The Indiana History Train visits Indianapolis, Wabash, Valparaiso, Fort Wayne and Kokomo Sept. 27-Oct. 27, 2007.

Ties to the past
This fall, hop aboard the Indiana History Train and get a hands-on, close-up look at Hoosiers whose lives were touched by the Civil War.

Three 65-foot refurbished freight cars will roll into five Indiana communities with a unique traveling exhibition, Faces of the Civil War, which explores Indiana and the Civil War. Hands-on activities and a Civil War-era actor/interpreter help visitors learn more about Indiana life during that era. Enjoy the film Well Done, Indiana and purchase Civil War-related items at the depot gift shop.

Next stop:
Sept. 27-29 Indianapolis
Oct. 4-6 Wabash
Oct. 11-13 Valparaiso
Oct. 18-20 Fort Wayne
Oct. 25-27 Kokomo

The Indiana History Train is open Thursdays through Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. To schedule group visits call (800) 447-1830 or email welcome@indianahistory.org. The tour is free, but limited spaces are available.

No, I just happen to hear a radio ad for it in Indianapolis Monday night. By the time I got home Tuesday and looked it up ont the web I see that you made a comment about it. I just copied the info from the website. I do plan on attending it in the am hours probably on Friday.

The History Train is in Valparaiso now for it's Thursday- Saturday visit. Look for it to be heading East on the CFE after that. I'm planning to visit tomorrow to get a look around.
