Best Place to Railfan?
I will be spending a few days this week in Fort Wayne and I was wondering where the best spot in the city is? It looks as though NE would be good if it is possible to get to it?

Christian,
NE is in fact a great place to sit and watch. There is a cement plant off of Hartzell Rd that allows you to park in their lot and watch. It is just a few yards west of the diamonds. The NE diamond is pretty much inaccessible. East Wayne yard is in view as well to the west of the spot and you'll have a good view of eastbounds approaching on the Huntington District. If you havn't viewed the rest of the site yet you should start here: http://www.fwarailfan.net/fortwayne_loc.htm
Enjoy your visit to the Summit City, let us know if you need any more info.

Randy,
From what I've been told over and over by railfans is that all you have to do is call their office and tell them what you're up to and ask when/where they will be running on a particular day and they will tell you. They seem to be really friendly this way. Their number is (517) 439-4677.
Other than that I don't believe that they seem to have a set schedule on when they run. I drive across their line near Edon all the time and I've only ever seen a train running once. Many other times I've noticed when I head north in the morning by the Edon Co-Op they have cars sitting on the siding there, and by the time I return in the afternoon they have moved those cars. I've seen this several times.
Welcome to the group Randy.

Re: Best Place to Railfan?
The INER runs on a "As Needed Basis" generally speaking it is a 5 day a week RR with most moves during the daylight.
Also they can be running several trains at the same time, I have seen as many as 3 operating at the same time at different
places on the road,
I caught a grain train on the out bound this afternoon, A single dash 9 with a string of grain cars, made a good noise
pulling into Hudson IN. they were putting more cars on the train on the way to Montpelier OH
