This is Indiana Service Corp. streetcar #543 northbound on Wells St. at the Ft. Wayne & Jackson crossing, Dec. 29, 1940. The Cass St. depot is one block to our left. Although there was double track in the street, the bridge was rated for only one car, so there was single track on the bridge.

Look at this location in Google street view. Much of the street and all of the buildings are gone:

Southbound 546 on Wells, one block north of the last photo at the intersection of Wells and Fairmount Place. The buildings at right were removed for the intersection change when Fairfield/Ewing replaced the Wells St. bridge over the river. The side track at right was one of the leads to the Commerce St. freight house.

The freight house lead tracks were on the south side of Commerce Dr. where the storage buildings are sitting today. The freight house served the interurbans 1929-1941, then served various trucking companies until demolition in 1999.
