This is the record of tonnage shipped on the LS&MS from all stations in 1875. Look at Butler. There were two railroads in the town in 1875: the LS&MS, NYC to Chicago, and the Eel River RR, Butler to Logansport. No part of the Wabash RR existed at Butler yet.
Butler was at the west end of the swamp that covered the northwest part of Ohio. It had forest that, according to local historians, was truly dark in daylight. West of town was great agricultural soil. The good ag land extended well to the west, so I'm sure a lot of ag produce came to LS&MS on the Eel River line.
