Derailment at New Haven depot

I don't have a date handy for this pic, but would be late 90's-early 2000's. Sure glad none of the derailed cars hits the station, or that likely would have been the end of it..

These cars were dragged to the north side of the Wabash depot. Was the wreck beside the depot?

:oops: Ebound picked the switch from the Huntertun to the Fostoria side. They went into Trier Ditch. Lare Reddin & I had a good laugh over that fox that temporarily lost its home down there. They cut them babies up right on the spot. :mrgreen:

Yes, I don't think the derailed cars ever came all that close to the depot, but it isn't much of a stretch to see what could have happened.

The boxcars are on the former Wabash mainline in its final c.1945 alignment along the north side of the depot. The Wabash track was gone by the time of this photo.

You can still see the track corridor through the trees west of the depot. Some of the track is in the gravel parking lot on the east side of State St., and you can see where it crossed State.
