:) BTW, kudos to the Indiana board bullsession. Much better now since a year ago when I made a jab at it.
I feel all the credit goes to Nathan, hope to meet him someday and express my thanks for the great job he is doing there. :!:

Thanks to Greg for keeping this board going too. Tons of great info on here, and someday I'll have a chance to try to read it all!

Thanks for the compliment DL! Feel free to let me know if ever things get out of hand again.

Thanks Mark and to everyone that visits and posts to the site. I'm always glad that this board always stays on topic and runs smoothly even without any "supervision".

From time to time I ponder different idea's for the website, especially a way to keep the train symbols page up to date. I've done some thinking and I think I have an idea for how to do this, although I need to get my computer guru brother to help me out to make it happen.

I'm thinking of making a database that you guys can input data into that could organize and generate reports on train movements. For those that like taking notes while they are trackside, you could come home, pull up the web page with a form that you can enter info in. Something with entries for Symbol, location, direction, date, time, consist type. You hit submit and this info is recorded into a database. Then, somebody else could do different searches of the database. Say they wanted to see what trains typically run by Winters Rd on Thursdays between noon and 5pm. They enter those search details and the website would dig through the database for train movements entered with those parameters. Then this person could see if there are usually trains passing winters rd during this time frame or maybe they should head somewhere else.

Or, say we hear that 34N has a heritage unit on it today, but you have no idea what time 34N usually comes through Huntington. Well, you do a search for train 34N, near Huntington and it searches for all records of 34N near Huntington that people have entered, figures the average time that it is spotted there and spits that out so you know about when to head trackside.

I don't know how feasible this idea is, but it sounds good on paper. If there's anybody out there that knows how to create this sort of thing, speak on up.

I'm speakin' on up. I (hopefully) can make this. I don't know how long it'll be until this will be out. I also need a list of lines like the ones that don't cross through Ft. Wayne for those who don't live near Ft. Wayne. I thought of 6 fields to fill out, Train #, Date, Time, Location, Line, and Direction. But I would have to keep the software on my computer.
