When Moses Taylor, New York City, passed away in May 1882, he held in today's currency the equivalent of $37.5 million in Ft. Wayne & Jackson RR stock. FW&J was leased to the Lake Shore & Michigan Southern Ry. effective Sept. 1, 1882, and there were many improvements made along the FW&J in the next months.
